There is a new tattoo related trend and it’s spreading around faster and faster; it’s called: tattoo regretting! In the 20th century, having tattoos was still something for former prisoner, pirates and prostitutes. At the beginning of the 21st century something changed and in a few years that rejected trend became more and more popular; so popular that has been counted, almost 30% of male adults in the USA have at least one tattoo design inked on their skin. Apparently the trend is changing again, if it is true that more than 30% of tattoo wearers decide to remove their beloved marks. But why do most penitents decide that their tattoo designs are no longer that cool? There are many different reasons, of course; each person and each tattoo have their own story, but there are a few recurrent tattoo related problems that are behind the most of tattoo removal cases.
Let’s take some celebrity tattoo designs as examples:Angelina Jolie, one of the most beautiful and successful women in the history of Hollywood, had once a nice tattoo inscription on her right shoulder displaying: “Billy Bob” on the top of a little dragon tattoo design.Billy Bob Thornton is a famous actor and, more important, former husband of Ms Jolie.Their love was so intense she definitely had to get his name inked “forever” on some part of her body. As everybody knows they split up a few years later and so she had to get rid of that symbol of eternal love. That’s just an example, though; there are many other celebrities who have got some lover’s name tattooed on them just to regret it as their little romance ends. Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee have had the same problem. Nobody doubts these people really loved each other, but, as everybody should knows, love is not forever – particularly among celebrities.
Another common example of tattoo designs regret is well brought out by 50 Cent and his tattoo experience. The popular gangsta rapper has got a bunch of amazingly huge tattoo designs – one for all, the big “50″ inked on his back. Problems started coming out as he decided that being a rapper was not enough – he wanted to become an actor. As you may know, tattooed actors get their tattoos covered by make-up artists every day before shooting. That’s quite common nowadays, as many actors wear tattoos. 50 Cent is a particular case, though, because his tattoo designs are pretty big and it is very difficult to cover them everyday with tons of make-up. That’s where he started regretting them. He had to sacrifice some of his tattoos not hamper his career. Third common example of tattoo designs regret: Hayden Panettiere, the beautiful American actress, has got a nice tattoo script running along her whole side, from her hips up over her ribcage almost till her armpit; it’s an Italian sentence (as Panettiere has Italian origins) and it reads: “Vievere senza rimipianti” – which is supposed to mean: “living without regret”.The problem is, her tattooist could not speak Italian and that’s probably why he misspelled the word “rimipianti”. Now it is something like: “Living without regretis”. Which is not such a tragic mistake at school, but can you imagine having it tattooed for 30 centimetres on your hip?So, whenever you decide to get your great love’s name tattooed on your skin, or you think it is cool to have a tattoo inscription in a foreign language, or again, if you are going to get a new, cool, huge tattoo design inked without thinking of possible career implications – be aware that risks are high for you to join the latest trend: tattoo regretting!
